It was 37 last night, or so the internet sez. felt colder. I caught up on blog and we left at about 9:30 to go to our favorite restaurant.....they even recognize us there. on the trail by 10:30, but what to wear.....I basically had all my warm gear on, a long sleeve nylon shirt with long sleeve biking shirt, with my light weight bike jacket and my rain shell on. before long I had my hood up on the shell. But after that it was down right comfy. so the pics....
We saw SUN, but only fleeting.

rail bridges

long and straight for some sections

the upper black is a coal seam
Ohiopyle is a state park. good rapids for whitewater types.

The train was always across the canyon. with the noise reverberating, it mostly sounded a lot closer than actual

pretty much HAD to look at river along the way.

This was our original destination along the way, but no room at the inn

Barb meets new friends that are Bike Friday enthusiast.

Then there was this trail....

the tunnel that was closed, so around the mountain we went

gotta think that the brace is what holds the bridge up

other end of the tunnel - we didn't take a short cut
All in all a great days ride. Just took a few miles to warm back up after each stop. We made it to Rockwood. nice bed and breakfast to ourselves. hot shower good meal and bed...nightie night
7 days later and back at camp -- sort of -- but with all those bridges (more than Venice!) in between. great photos as always. you're not a biker who photographs; you're a photographer who happens to bike!? have fun in Shepherdstown and Harper's Ferry -- my favorite spots of my youth.
