September 11 off to Portsmith

These first three pics were left over from yesterday.....  Seems as though the guy writing the blog has problems....not that he is aware of anyway.
sumbody having toooooo much fun
The also have regular sized horses.....good looking ones tool

We got up the today (at the campsite) and it was cloudy with a slight breeze.  Forecast was for rain at 4:00 PM.  packed up camp and off we went.  Actually got a relatively early departure, 9:30.

we were riding into a headwind.  mostly an inland road (hywy 1)  without much vistas.  Barb wanted treats......pastries!  So we kept our eyes open.  Barb had rinsed stuff out last night so Bob was our drying rack today!   The head wind was pretty strong, and there was intermittent shoulders for riding on, and did I mention head winds....  We were going through a town called Ogunquit when we observed people eating something with coffee outside a  store,   That, was basically all it took....U TURN!!!!  Great pastry and coffee, barb found some regular coffee with flavors, blueberry and toffee.

just as we got on the bikes, it started to rain, not to mention headwinds.  The next town was 12 miles away.  Do we go, or stay.....GO Dog GO!!!!!!

I guessed that the camera wouldn't get used today in the rain.  I put it in my pack to keep dry....boy was I wrong, BIG picture day.

OOOPS! This was left over from yesterday in Kennebunk.  Some type of old power station or mill.  See outflow at bottom of building,

My friend Wayne has told everybody he is retired.....Been sneaking around on us.....
Ocean shots with surf

Ducks were harboring in protected area keeping  out of the wind
Random guy going the other direction.
Barb  Finally gets to where her psychco pants, and please note her spiffy new rain jacket.

down the lane

my laundry getting wet

Barb was jealous.  The gal was bundled up sitting on the beach and reading

did I mention wind???????

Anybody know an electrician??? Great paces to watch storms from....maybe

maybe not

Pics on the way

This is the bridge going into New Hampshire.  It has huge chains draped in it.  Best I could figure is that if the cables failed, the chains would keep the counter weights from hitting the bridge deck, maybe.  This was a vertical lift draw span.

This is Portsmouth.  Reminds me of Europe where the buildings go down to the water.

Well, we made it to south Portsmouth and it started to rain.  so Quality Inn here we come.  a REAL shower.  had a pizza and salad for dinner - life is good.  so it is goodby Maine, Hello New Hampshire!!!!
