September 9, leave Freeport off to Wyndham

Mark and Eileen live next to Wolfe's Neck State Park. So that is where we stayed last night.  At the urging of Mark we hiked around the campground and looked at the more expensive sites with views.  Nice vistas.....But first we must show a pic of the laundry lady...hmmmm I've seen those pants before...

Our buddies.  Wanted to pet but fence was electric, so no.  It seems that the state park was a gift from some estate, and it has a working farm.

Eileen told us the proper name for these cows is not Belted Galloways, but rather "Oreo Cookie Cows".

It took us a while to get going this morning then I found out I lost my blue tooth for my phone ($250). So we went by Mark and Eileen's to look, but to no avail.  Lost over an hour looking.  Barb actually wanted to mail some stuff (yes she over-packed, imagine that).  So off to Freeport, about 5 miles away.  Of course first thing there was a pastry shop.  We didn't leave Freeport until 1:00PM, a bit late in the day.  So sorry, didn't get any pics of Freeport.  lot of neat looking outlet stores, not to mention LL Bean. 

I should have taken a shot of this hill BEFORE going up (notice it just seems to drop off).  Made it up the steep part, but nothing left so first hill I walked that wasn't due to gearing problems (only have had one of those). 

And.....then there was the detour.  out on country roads,  no grid and there is this detour.  not quite clear what direction was closed.  There was a detour sign saying Allen Road was closed north, well we were going south on Allen.....I'm sure the locals knew what they meant.

We found the road closure and uh-uh no way.  fortunately the detour wasn't so bad, maybe 3-5 miles.  Got my first taste of dirt road fully loaded with the trailer.....The GAP trail in Pa is Gonna Be Fun!!!!!  ;>) .....or not

Windy country roads, estates, such as this and intermittent houses.  Fun ride.  However, since we got a late start we were going to have a late finish.  Got to Windham ME and we had to stop at store, get groceries, then go another 8 miles to set up camp.  Dinner at probably 7:00...so we opted to get groceries and stay at a resort with upstairs rooms.  Gave me a chance to work on blog.  Slept well.

Hopefully we get a better start this morning, BUT ya never know!!!!!
