September 20 with needed catch up.

I know I know, I haven't posted for a few days.  I was looking into the map to get across PA and guess what?????? We don't have one, so I spent the night looking at a Google Maps route.  But all in general, we had a great days ride today......( in case you haven't figured it out, I am writing this the 22nd)

We had a long climb out of Amenia, but it was very doable  No walking today.  but then we crossed this ridge and went down into the Hudson Valley.  still ups and downs, but mostly downs.
Barb found another dressing room :)

Great shots of the surrounding hills

Gives you an idea about the climb

Don't think they had me in mind when they painted "caution horses" on the trailer....

Some new friends

Some really new

We ate here great sandwich and Barb bought a $9 pack of dried blueberrys from Washington....go figure....earthy package, ergo the price.

Cut on the fringes of Hyde Park.  elenor Roosevelt has her library there in addition to a national historic site....didn't visit so can't elaborate.
Veterinary clinic named the Ark, for those animal lovers and vets.

Grade school building....

really cool weather vane

One of Barbs new favorite books, that EVEN I read is Boys in the Boat.  About the 1936 University of Washington crew that won the Olympics.  At the time the big national race was at Poughkeepsie on the Hudson.  Good read and now for the course......we got to ride a walkway bridge across the Hudson.

looking for the ghosts of the boys

bike gang we met mid span.....

The book explained how they had viewing trains that went along the race.  The length was 4 miles

After we got off the bridge we continued on a trail, then on the highway to New Paltz, hotel and Indian food for dinner.

pics on the run
