On to our adventure....Barb woke up with big kink in her upper back, about shoulder blade level. It rained last night and continued through the morning, that is until Barb finally had to get up to go to the bathroom. She found out it wasn't raining anymore, just the wind blowing rain off the leaves :>)
We got up, started drying stuff, and fixed breakfast. I worked Barbs back a bit. I figured a short day.
never sink river
With Barbs back bothering her I figured we would stop in Port Jervis and reassess how far we were going today. Port Jervis was only about 10 miles from our campsite. We rode through Port Jervis looking for a pastry shop, and by and by WE FOUND ONE!!!!!!!! After eating more than our fill of pastries, it was determined we could make another 43 miles to Delaware Water Gap (the town). So away we went, down the Delaware Water Gap, the national park. but before we go, a couple of shots of Port Jervis
Then we got here....start of big climb, a little too steep. I had to walk my bike for about a half mile up. Right before we started Barb found out she had broken her eggbeater peddle clip on her right peddle. NOT something you want before a big climb.....but she made it.
After the big climb and climb and climb, the trip was generally down. mostly farm and forest, no water. Then just before Water Gap, we could actually see water through the trees.
I-80 across the Delaware. we took the sidewalk. Those steel beams could FLEX!!!! sometimes we could fell them bounce long after the trucks were gone!!!!!! Crossing this bridge got us into PA!!!!!
got to Delaware Water Gap and a hotel, not to mention pizza and a pastry shop in the morning!!!!!
PA is a long state. Still warm weather in the daytime. Rich hasn't had his phone on since Tuesday -- at the cabin with no service; he'll be back tomorrow, but home phone is 814-308-8161.
